Decato Returns as Tech Director for 2014-15 ECS Season
CLARKSBURG, Mass. (July 24, 2014) — Veteran race official John Decato will rejoin New England's premier snowmobile race sanctioning body for 2014-2015, as East Coast Snocross (ECS) is pleased to announce he has accepted the position of Technical Director.
Decato has been involved with snowmobile racing as an official for 15 years. He served as Tech Director for four seasons with the former Rock Maple Racing circuit, and for the first season ECS was in operation. Prior to his time in snocross, Decato put in a decade of service on the snowmobile grass drag circuit, serving as technical director for the popular Woody's Northeast Grass Drag Series.
Shawn Achilles Adds General Manager to Race Director Duties at East Coast Snocross
CLARKSBURG, Mass. (May 20, 2014) — It's been said that experience is the best teacher in almost any subject. Never was that statement any more accurate than in the world of snowmobile racing, where there are often more variables than you'll find in a complex mathematical equation.
Officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) are pleased to announce that veteran race official Shawn Achilles will assume the duties of General Manager, effective immediately in addition to his role as Event Race Director during the racing season. Achilles, of Readsboro, Vermont, started racing snowmobiles in the late 1990s, then joined the staff at Rock Maple Racing in 2003. For the last 11 winters, he has been trackside at every race, working in a variety of roles.
"I'm excited to move into this position, and honored that new series owner Kurt Gagne has placed his trust in me," Achilles said. "I think with Kurt at the helm, we really do have a lot to look forward to at ECS. I've already started preparing information for our sponsors and race sites; we know how fast the off-season goes by and want to be sure we're ahead of the curve."
ECS Changes Hands After 4 Great Seasons
Bright Future Planned from New ECS Owner
CHESHIRE, Conn. (May 15, 2014) — Officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) have announced the sale of the snowmobile racing sanctioning body. The series was launched in May of 2010 when New York native Eric Scott and Connecticut businessman Bob Roscoe purchased the former Rock Maple Racing circuit from New Hampshire native Chuck Minasalli.
Kurt Gagne, a race-savvy businessman from Clarksburg, Mass., has purchased ECS and is making a commitment to carry our sport forward with pride, energy and a eye towards the future.
After four good years of competition, the time had come for both Scott and Roscoe to move on. Eric's son Jake now competes in the Pro class on the ISOC national circuit for Levi LaVallee, while Bob's son Connor will be headed off to college this fall. Both men had (and still have) a deep passion for snocross, and helped the sport evolve a great deal during their tenure.
